Located at the foot of the Montgó, crowned by its Islamic
castle, is the city of Dénia, a beautiful and welcoming
town that offers tourists an incomparable historical,
cultural and gastronomic heritage as well as a privileged
Mediterranean climate to enjoy its 20km of beachline.
The north beaches are of fine sand and shallow crystalline
waters, while the ones in the south area, Las Rotas, are
rocky and eventually turn
into a cliff with small cold
water coves(due to the filtration of fresh water springs, coming from the Montgó).
For the water sports lovers, Dénia has a yacht club and sports marina where it is
possible to practice sailing, kayaking amongst others and also boats can be rented.
Other activities such as windsurf and scuba diving can be enjoyed in Dénia's coasts; for
the latter, the waters of the "Cova Tallada" Nature Reserve and in general on the
beaches of Las Rotas and the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve are preferred and
recommended.
Hikers will be able to enjoy some wonderful routes in the mountain both in Dénia and in
its surroundings.
It is recommended to visit the El Montgó
Natural
Park,
located between the municipalities of
Dénia and Jávea, where you will find
various routes with spectacular
landscapes. For those who prefer other
types of sports, they can find a golf
course with 18 holes, SPA and tennis
courts.
In addition to its nature, in Denia there is an exceptional atmosphere both day
and night with its colourful parties, music and
tradition:
Fallas (March 15-19)
Bonfires of San Juan (June 22-24)
Santísima Sangre (2nd Saturday to 3rd Sunday of
July)
Parade of Moors and Christians (August 14-18)
Close to Denia there are various leisure
places where adults and children can
enjoy themselves: Theme parks such as
TERRA MÍTICA, TERRA NATURA, MUNDO
MAR and AQUALANDIA, as well as the CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCE with the
OCEANOGRÁFIC, are a good option to spend the day.
Cultural activities such as dance, theatre and painting are characteristic of this
city, especially in summer when the offer is very varied, you can visit Denia
Castle, San Juan and Sta. Paula hermitages, Archaeological museum and
Ethnological and many other places of cultural interest.
